Guidelines:

A few basic guidelines that will assist departments in the proper handling of mail processed via the campus mail delivery system:

  1. Use inter-campus mail envelopes for on-campus mail (Do not use regular business envelopes).
  2. Always use the recipient's full name, department name, and mail code when sending campus mail.
  3. Refer to the Georgia Tech Campus Directory for current mail code information or contact the Campus Post Office.
  4. Cross-out all previous names or other information on the envelope to ensure proper delivery.
  5. Mail should be bundled in numerical order according to Mail Code.
  6. Separate interdepartmental mail from U.S. Mail by securing it with rubber bands.
  7. Call the Campus Post Office if you have a large mailing which requires a special pick-up.
  8. Call the Campus Post Office if you need Bulk Mail information (the Campus Post Office does NOT provide bulk mail service).
  9. Mail is delivered and collected twice daily in most departments. All mail must be ready for pick-up when the carrier arrives at your department. If you do not know your department's delivery schedule, contact the Campus Post Office.
  10. When a faculty or staff member leaves Georgia Tech or transfers to another campus department, it is the responsibility of the department to forward the individual's mail. When such mail is received, cross out the old address, write the forwarding address, and place it in the outgoing mail.
  11. Interdepartmental mail service is also provided to students via the interdepartmental mail delivery system. If you have a large mailing to the student mailboxes, please contact the Campus Post Office prior to your mailing. Georgia Tech departments and official/chartered student organizations may also place mail in student mailboxes. Please call the Campus Post Office to make an appointment.
  12. Mail sent to students' mailboxes must include the recipient's full name and box number.
  13. The Campus Post Ofice is a government contract station, therefore, all mail sent via the Campus Mail delivery system to students or anyone on campus without postage must be office Georgia Tech correspondance. Personal Mail is NOT permitted on the campus mail system.

These guidelines will assist departments in the proper handling of mail processed via the United States Postal Service:
