Signature Events are those SCPC programs that are held each semester or annually and that are strongly associated with SCPC on campus. Though the list may seem quite extensive, these programs only represent about 40% of our packed event schedule as we are constantly striving to bring innovative and original events to campus!
Signature Events include:
GEORGIA TECH NIGHT AT SIX FLAGS
First held in 2003, this event is the largest
on or off-campus event each year, attracting around 6,000 students, staff, and
faculty. Greatly discounted tickets are made available to members of the
Georgia Tech community, who are transported free of charge to an exclusive
Georgia Tech only night at Six Flags over Georgia. This event is typically held
in early September each year.
SCPC works in collaboration with multiple
organizations in order to plan a weeklong celebration of Tech spirit leading up
to the homecoming football game. SCPC's 20-25 member Homecoming Committee is
responsible for planning a vast array of events including competitive field
events, the Talent Show, Tech Trivia, Mr. Georgia Tech and Ms. Georgia Tech,
Homecoming Festival, and more! Homecoming occurs during the week leading up to
the homecoming game typically held in October.
The Homecoming Concert is the major musical
act on campus each year. The event is held on Tech Green and free for students.
Each year a survey of possible artists is developed based upon price and
availability and the act is chosen according to popularity. The Homecoming
concert is usually held on the Thursday evening before or during Homecoming
STING BREAK FESTIVAL
Sting Break is SCPC's giant student
appreciation celebration including attractions such as free giveaways and food,
music, inflatables, novelties, and carnival rides on 5th Street in
Tech Square. With over 3,000 students enjoying the As the name suggests, Sting
Break is held late in the spring semester.
Take-A-Prof is one of Georgia Tech's
longest-running programs that reached its 100th edition in fall 2011.
Take-A-Prof allows you to enjoy a meal with a professor in a non-academic,
low-cost, and low-pressure situation. Themes such as Cafe Style, featuring
pastries and tea provide a fun and interesting environment for socializing and
networking! These events usually take place once a semester.
The long-running SCPC Midnight Breakfast
features pancakes, grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, coffee, orange juice,
and more! Midnight Breakfast takes place on the Tuesday night of finals week
10pm - midnight during the fall and spring semesters.
