The ideal candidate would be able to commit to a work schedule of 2 - 3 hours per day Monday - Friday between the hours of 9am - 5pm. The ideal candidate would also be able to start work on April 24, 2024 for training.

Student and New Alumni Engagement Student Assistant

The Student and New Alumni Engagement team is looking for an undergraduate student to provide administrative and event support to the team for Summer 2024. Our department works with three student organizations run out of the Alumni Association: Student Alumni Association, Georgia Tech Student Foundation, and the Georgia Tech Student Ambassadors, as well as GTAA’s GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Advisory Council. Through this position, the student assistant would support the organizations and their advisors in tasks that enhance the mission of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association.

This undergraduate student assistants support the operational and lab needs of the Institute for People and Technology within the Technology Square Research Building, Coda Building and Aware Home. Each student assistant is assigned a primary area within the department. All student assistants assist with events and space operations as needed. Students hired for summer 2024 may have the option to continue working during the 2024-2025 academic year depending upon the needs of the department.
Research Operations Assistant primary tasks:
- Triage IT issues among faculty, staff, and users
- Setup, maintain, and manage audio-visual equipment for events and lab spaces
- Maintain loaner computer equipment
- Aid staff with computer software and hardware
- Maintain documentation of equipment status and repairs

Lab Assistant primary tasks:
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment (could include minor repairs or adjustments)
- Maintain inventory of lending library items, Prototyping Lab and/or Craft Lab
- Building, debugging, and maintaining demonstrations
- Develop and update signage related to space policies, practices, and usage
- Facilitate orientation for new users in the Prototyping and Craft Labs

- Assist with the daily organization of IPaT spaces including checking mail, cleaning kitchen space, etc.

SECTION IV: Duties: This position will serve CEISMC’s Summer P.E.A.K.S (Programs for Enrichment and Accelerated Knowledge in STEM) is an in-person program on the campus of Georgia Tech and for the STEAM Whistle Workshop, a virtual STEAM program. Summer P.E.A.K.S. and STEAM Whistle Workshop runs through June and July 2024. Applicants must have prior experience working or volunteering with K-12 aged students. Dr. Guensler’s research team in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering is looking for undergraduates with a reliable vehicle and a current US driver’s license to perform data collection tasks for a national research project funded by the US Department of Transportation.  The undergraduate research assistants (URAs) will work under the supervision of a team of faculty members and experienced graduate research assistants that are inventorying pedestrian assets from field-collected video using a combination of manual review, machine vision processing, stereo-optical point cloud analysis, and Lidar distance data.  Each collection session can involve walking of 2-3 miles using specialized GPS units. The research team is looking for individuals with an unwavering sense of responsibility and commitment who can handle high-cost equipment with care and ensure that high quality video data is collected.  URAs will be expected to work 10 to 20 hours per week at $20.00/hour. Schedules are flexible and weekend work is encouraged. Mileage is reimbursed at standard federal rates of 65.5 cents/mile.
Preference is given to students living in the Atlanta area who can continue work over the summer and into the fall. You must be enrolled as a student in the Summer or Fall to be eligible for this position.

In this position, you will contribute to user-facing web portals for our campus-wide HPC (high-performance computing) cluster. These web portals are used by researchers to develop and run high-performance simulations, data analytics, and AI/ML workflows.
