The Wellness Empowerment Center (W.E. Center) is hosting its second annual W.E. Welcome You event on August 23 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the lawn between Stamps Health Services and the Campus Recreation Center. Students will be able to participate in games, enjoy delicious snacks, and walk away with some FREE swag.

The event also provides an opportunity for students to engage with W.E. Center staff and learn more about the department’s programs, services, and resources, which are designed to promote student success both in and out of the classroom. The W.E. Center’s mission supports the goals of Student Engagement and Well-Being in empowering students to support their own well-being across all eight dimensions of wellness: environmental, emotional, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual.

“We are so excited to welcome students back to campus, meet new students for the first time, and empower them to prioritize and grow in their wellness journey,” said Joi Alexander, director of the W.E. Center.

Along with all the activities, giveaways, and free food, students will learn about the pillars of the department, which include Community Nutrition and Body Image, Health Education, and VOICE. The pillars, as well as the services and programs that they offer, focus on a holistic approach to wellness as part of their efforts to promote, nurture, and enrich the Georgia Tech community in the areas of health and well-being.

“This event is going to be a ton of fun, but we’re also aiming to educate students and excite them about the ways they can be proactive when it comes to their health and wellness,” said Jess Ponder, a health educator for the W.E. Center. “We want them to have a good time, but we also want them to leave this event with all the knowledge and tools they need to develop and maintain their personal well-being.”

No registration is required for the event; students are encouraged to show up when they can and bring their friends along. Visit the W.E. Center’s website for additional information about its staff, resources, and programs, and follow them on social media @gtwellnesscenter.
